This cafe sells 100% vegan meals and desserts. The baked goods are made from organic, unrefined cane sugar and organic soy milk. On top of that, everything you can order here, from the Tempeh Wrap with Hummus and Avocado to the Chocolate Peanut Butter Cake, is absolutely divine. Let me tell you, as a newly converted vegan, the day I discovered Plant was a day worth dancing and whooping over. Even if you are a meat and dairy enthusiast, Plant’s unique and delicious menu will be making you beg for more. I promise.
This is the Pumpkin Gingerbread Cookie Cream Cake, the very first item that I tried at Plant. I brought my friend here, who initially had no idea that the bakery was vegan before she tried the food. She thoroughly enjoyed it, as did I, and she even asked for their business card so she could come back with her boyfriend. Hoorah for successful fix of a sweet tooth craving...fully vegan-style!
I really, really wanted the veggie burrito, but since they did not have it (boo), I settled for the Thai Peanut Soba with Veggies and Fried Tofu. Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much, but the food blew me away. It was incredibly fresh, with the vegetables bursting with flavor in my mouth. Not only that, all the ingredients intermingled in a way that really did replicate the exotic scents of Thai cuisine. My friend who had this with me (a complete meat lover, may I add) raised his eyebrows and had to admit, well, that it was good!
All in all, my experience at Plant was full of surprise that made me very happy and good food that filled my stomach. This is definitely a place to try if you are vegan and want to have some new options and/or satiate your baked goods cravings. Even if you’re not vegan, definitely give it a go! You might find yourself more than just pleasantly surprised at how good vegan food can be. Mhm, that's right.
